BSA Camp Lawton
Located near Mount Lemmon, in the Catalina Mountains

Camping at Lawton

At BSA's Camp Lawton khaki clad
humans have been know to
inhabit
the
platform tents that have been strategically arranged
to encourage camping behaviors.
They can also be spotted at the mess hall, pool and trading post.
Known for their loud shouts and sometimes uncontrollable laughter,
they can be identified as a
subcategory of Boy - Scouts.

Pool at Lawton

There are plenty of opportunities at Camp Lawton to pass Swimming Tests for rank, and earn Merit Badges, such as Life Saving. There is a morning swim for the Penguins as well as a daily free swim. Canoeing on Rose Canyon Lake adds to the fun.

Winter at Lawton

Snow camping and cabin camping are features of Camp Lawton, too.

A Scout is Reverent

Looking toward Camp Lawton's open-air chapel.  A view of the Rincon Mountains, east of the Tucson Valley, lies in the distance,

"The earth is the LORD's, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he has founded it on the seas, and established it on the floods. Pslam 24:

"In our understanding the Creator made everything. That's all we're told. He made everything. And since he made everything, then you must respect everything. That's simple. And so as I look upon you. I know that the Creator made you; I know that we are equal." Chief Oren Lyon, Onondaga Nation.

Lawton History

Camp Lawton, chartered April 1,1921, was among the first projects of the Rotary Club of Tucson,
Boy Scouts have enjoyed the mountain campground for over 90 years, and will continue to do so, thanks to the selfless efforts of early community leaders.

Lawton Camp Commissioner 2014

Former Catalina Council Assistant Commissioner, and Troop 109 former Committee Chair, Scoutmaster, and Assistant Scoutmaster James Gooden, served as Camp Commissioner for Camp Lawton in 2014. Thank you James for all of your service to Scouting!
