Basics:
Scout Shop
1333 Old Weisgarber Road, 37909, (same building as the Council). Ph# 588-1940.
Uniform minimum
We have two uniforms Class A and Class B
Class A - the dress uniform
Worn to pack meetings, den meetings, fundraising.
The Scout Shop has all you need for a uniform and will be happy to sell you shirt, socks, belt, pants - the list goes on and on.
We recommend the following, at minimum, for the dress uniform:
Cub Scout shirt and belt
Kerchief(NOTE: Do not buy a kerchief. We recycle these!!!)
Pants or shorts and hat are encouraged. You’ll need insignia for the shirt (just ask someone at the shop for which ones.) Webelos can wear the standard blue uniforms or switch to the tan in preparation for Boy Scouts. Hats, socks, pants and patch vests are fun but not required.
Tips: Get the special adhesive (also at the shop) so you don’t have to sew.
The belts are nice because the boys will be earning belt loops for activities and academics.
Class B –the T-Shirt
T-shirt with a Pack 251 imprint.
Used for “dirty” activities such as camping trips and service projects, some den meetings.
We will have Class B uniform s available in October.
Can my son come to a meeting not in uniform? Yes, lots of boys come straight to meetings still in football or soccer jerseys. We definitely prefer your son come to a meeting out of uniform than to not come at all.
Handbooks - Each den has its own. They are on sale at the Scout Shop. Recommended to get one with the spiral binding, it is much easier to use.
Annual Dues = $50 paid in February which covers 12 months.
Includes:
Pack 251 Dues
Registration with National Boy Scouts of America
Boys Life Monthly Magazine Subscription for one year.
Where does money go?
Partially covers Fall Campout

Spring Overnight Camping Event for kids (past events such as Aquarium, Lost Sea Cave)

Financial needs - It has always been pack 251’s informal policy to assist those cubs that had a desire to participate but might have financial hardships. Our organization may provide assistance when warranted for uniform, manuals, etc. Please speak to your den leader or cub master and this will be handled privately and discreetly.
